Reception theory

Q1:
For this 50 Cent poster I believe the preferred reading is that the producer was trying to convey the message that you are the only one in control of your life and you must remember that whatever happens you will always be who you are and that with each day you must live it to the fullest as you never know what tomorrow may bring and also that there will always be many chances in life and that. I think the negotiated reading of this poster is that both the audience and producer interpret it as Reebok and and 50 Cent conveying the message that you are your own person and nobody can ever take your identity away from you no matter what you may go through, it'll be the one thing that stays sustained throughout your lifetime. Lastly, the oppositional reading for this may be interpreted as the message being that you can never change who you are, who you start of as will never change and if you are a bad person you will never be given another chance at changing your reality for the better.

The preferred reading of this Colin Kaepernick/Nike poster is that you must follow your dreams to reach your goal no matter what it may take because you're the only one who can dictate what happens in your life so you shouldn't be afraid of what others may think. The 'Negotiated reading' of this is that many audiences as well as maybe the producer may interpret it as that you must sacrifice any and everything to get to your personal goal no matter what the cost may be. The 'Oppositional reading' of this is that you must find something to believe in, you cannot not follow a dream therefore you have to make sacrifices so that you set yourself on the correct path.

Q2:  In my opinion both of these posters provide enough evidence to support the idea that audiences are free to interpret messages in multiple ways, even rejecting them. In the 50 Cent poster the producer is yes trying to convey the message that you are your own person and your identity will never not be your own but the audience too can voice their own opinion without backfire as one of the main focuses of this poster is the fact that it clearly says 'I am what I am' which tells the audience they are who they want to be and they have their own voice that they can voice their own opinions on whether it is correct or not. Although many others may argue that we are being forced to follow 50 Cents ideology and so we must make the most of each day we live which many people may disagree with for the simple fact that may be that they believe they have enough time to do what they want at any time. For the Colin Kaepernick poster it tells us to 'believe in ourselves' which reaches out to a large audience that'll agree with this statement however a large majority may interpret the message differently and that Nike is forcing us to believe in their ideology which is clearly not what they're trying to do but many people don't understand certain topics and will often shift to the negative viewpoint and bash on what certain companies try to advertise because they have interpreted it wrongly and when companies try to retaliate they get a lot of hate because they are trying to defend themselves.
