Q1: Icon Index Symbol Q2: I think that in today's society icons and indexes are extremely important in media texts. First of all,Icons that are shown straight away tell the viewers what is being shown and what it may mean as it is literally the thing that the producer intends to show on purpose. Icons also allow us to understand media texts much more efficiently as we won't have to get as analytical as we are given the subject and nothing is hidden. Q1: For this 50 Cent poster I believe the preferred reading is that the producer was trying to convey the message that you are the only one in control of your life and you must remember that whatever happens you will always be who you are and that with each day you must live it to the fullest as you never know what tomorrow may bring and also that there will always be many chances in life and that. I think the negotiated reading of this poster is that both the audience and producer interpret it as Reebok and and 50 Cent conveying the message that you are your own person and nobody can ever take your identity away from you no matter what you may go through, it'll be the one thing that stays sustained throughout your lifetime. 1) Analyse this RBK 50 Cent advert using the key media language you learned today: denotation, connotation, colour, pose, framing, composition, size, type of shot, subject matter, setting, lighting. By looking at this poster the first thing you're drawn to is the pose and facial expression of 50 Cent. He has a determined/confident look on his face as if he is saying to the viewer he cannot be stopped and will continue to become a stronger version of himself. Also by looking at the background on the you can see on the right hand side many finger prints which may represent his tough past life in which he spent time in prison for a crime.
